About Rosters
Pubs earn their place by being reliable rather than remarkable. A room where a table is free on a weeknight, the game is on somewhere in the sightline, and nobody minds if you sit for an hour is a different proposition from a restaurant. Rosters operates from 2319 53 Ave in Vernon.
A few questions save trouble on the way in. Kitchens in licensed rooms often close earlier than the bar does, so ask about food if you are arriving late. In British Columbia what a licence permits changes who can be in the room and when, so anyone bringing family along should check before turning up with children. Ask whether there is a patio, whether tables can be held for a group coming in after a game, and whether there is a quieter corner if you are there to talk rather than watch. Trivia nights, live music and league nights fill a room quickly and change its character entirely.
Getting home matters here. Vernon spreads a long way, from the flats downtown up onto East Hill, out to Okanagan Landing where the lake ends, and south across the Commonage toward the golf country and the hills, and none of those are short walks. Sort the drive out before the first round rather than after the last. Winter adds its own argument for that, since roads at the north end of the valley get properly cold and the climb up the hill is not the place to discover it. Through summer the same room takes on the lake crowd and runs later.
