This row rotates, and the places on it are the kitchens, counters and workshops people in Penticton keep sending me back to — not one of them paid to be here.
Why this directory
About Penticton
A directory is only worth anything if somebody keeps it honest. Here is what I actually do about that.
A researched, locally maintained guide to businesses in Penticton, part of the Okanagan Valley directory for British Columbia.
What makes this different
Checked, not scraped
Every entry starts from an address I can find, a phone number that rings and hours somebody confirmed. When a place closes, it comes off. Plenty of directories are still sending people to restaurants that shut years ago, and I think that is a rotten thing to do to somebody driving across town on a Sunday.
The whole city, not one strip
All 1 Penticton neighbourhoods have a page here, Downtown Penticton and Downtown Penticton included, and every listing tells you which one it sits in. Most directories learn one strip of town and guess at the rest. The parts they skip are usually where I eat.
Free to list, quick to fix
Being listed costs nothing, and that is not a launch offer. Owners can claim their page, correct the hours, add a website, and I get to it that week. There are no tiers and no ad slots, so nobody here climbs over anybody else by paying me. My parents sold produce out of a stall, and I know what a rigged aisle looks like.
I'm a local
One person writes this site and that person is . I eat in Penticton most days and I walk it most mornings, so the guides come with opinions attached. Where I would pick one place over a near identical one down the road, I say which and why. Where I have not been since the owners changed, the page admits it.
Neighbourhoods

Every neighbourhood in Penticton has its own page. I use these pages more than I use the search box.
Guides and local news
What's happening in Penticton
I write these for people who are going this weekend, not for people reading about the city from somewhere else. Expect ranked lists, warnings about what sells out early, and the answers to questions I get asked over and over.
Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
Eating in Penticton: beach strip, main street and the bench above
Penticton eats along two parallel lines, the beach and Main Street, with the Naramata Bench hanging overhead. How to split a food weekend between them without eating the same meal twice.
The best time to SUP in Penticton: two lakes and one very early alarm
Penticton is the only city in the valley with two proper paddling lakes. How Okanagan Beach and Skaha Beach differ for stand up paddleboarding, when each stays calm, and what the channel has to do with anything.
