About 5000 Motel
Summer beds in Penticton are a seasonal commodity. The city sits between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake with beaches at either end, and from late June the population swells with people who came for the water, the channel float, the vineyards on the benches, or an event at one of the sports facilities. Booking early is the standard advice, and it holds in the shoulder season too, when festivals fill rooms that would otherwise sit quiet.
5000 Motel stands at 1742 Main Street, on the corridor carrying traffic through the middle of the city from the Okanagan Lake end toward Skaha. That position puts a guest a short drive from either beach and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants along the downtown stretch of Main. Reservations run through 250-493-5000 or the motel's own site at 5000motel.com, and either route is quicker than guessing at availability in July.
Motels vary widely in what they include, and the differences are better settled before you arrive than after. Kitchenette or bar fridge, ground floor or stairs, room to park a boat trailer, whether pets are welcome, and how early or late an arrival can be handled all differ from one property to the next. Rates and availability in the South Okanagan move sharply with the calendar. If you are travelling with gear for the lake, mention it when you book, because storage and parking space are not the same everywhere.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
