About Apple Tree Inn
Travellers who want the quieter of Penticton's two lakes generally end up at the southern end of the city, where Skaha Lake sits with its beach, its park and a calmer crowd than the channel entrance up north. The distance between the two waterfronts is short, only a few minutes by car, so choosing one end of town does not mean giving up the other for the week.
Apple Tree Inn is at 2406 Skaha Lake Road, on the corridor that runs down toward that southern beach. Reservations go through 888-492-3041, and the property keeps a site at appletreeinn.ca. The location leaves guests close to the shops and services at the south end of the city while keeping the downtown restaurants and the Main Street stretch within an easy drive, and it makes a sensible base for days out toward Oliver, Osoyoos and the benches.
Some accommodation questions are simple to answer in advance and awkward to answer on arrival. What the room includes by way of kitchen facilities, how parking works for a truck or a trailer, the policy on pets, and whether a late arrival can be handled all belong in the booking conversation. Summer in the South Okanagan books up well ahead, particularly around the mid-August festival, and rates move with the season. Asking about cancellation terms at the time of booking is a habit worth keeping.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
