About Flaming Motel
Summer traffic through the South Okanagan is heavy enough that a room within reach of both lakes is worth knowing about. Flaming Motel stands at 2387 Skaha Lake Road, on the route that carries drivers south out of central Penticton toward Skaha Lake and, further on, Okanagan Falls and the wine towns beyond it.
Independent motels tend to be straightforward operations. You park at the door, carry your bags a few steps, and deal with a person rather than a desk queue. What varies is the fittings, so ask what a given room actually has when you book. Kitchenettes, fridges, air conditioning, bed configurations, ground floor access and whether pets are welcome all differ from room to room, and none of them should be assumed. Anyone travelling with bikes, a boat trailer or a pile of gear should also ask where to leave it overnight.
Calls go to 250-492-8333. Penticton fills up in a predictable pattern. The hottest weeks of July and August, the mid-August Peach Festival, and the general run of summer visitors all put pressure on rooms, while spring and late autumn are relaxed by comparison. Booking well ahead for a summer visit is simply practical. It is also worth remembering how compact the city is, since a room on the Skaha side still leaves the downtown shops, the Okanagan Lake beaches and the channel entrance only a few minutes away by car.
