About Pass Motor Inn
Roadside motor inns did the original work of highway travel in British Columbia, and they still do a job the larger hotels are not built for: a bed close to the car, a straightforward rate, and no walk through a lobby with your luggage. Pass Motor Inn stands at 2307 Skaha Lake Road in Penticton, on the south side of the city near the Skaha Lake end of town. The number is 250-492-0323.
Direct phone booking is often the better route with an independent property, since not everything on offer shows up on a booking site, and rates and terms can differ between the two. Ask about room configurations and whether a kitchenette is part of it, parking for anything larger than a car, whether pets are accepted and on what conditions, how check in works for a late arrival, and what the cancellation policy looks like. Longer stay and weekly arrangements are worth raising if the trip runs beyond a few nights.
The south end of Penticton is a sensible base for a certain kind of visit. Skaha Lake beach and park are close by, Main Street runs north from there through the shops and services to the downtown core and the Okanagan Lake shore, and the highway south toward Oliver, Osoyoos and the border begins right here. In midsummer the whole city books up, so early is a great deal better than late.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
