About Gorgeous Georges
Booking a table for more than four people is a different exercise from wandering out and hoping, and the downtown blocks fill up quickly once the weather turns. Gorgeous Georges keeps an address at 235 Bernard Avenue, in the part of the city centre that steps down toward the waterfront parks on Okanagan Lake.
Downtown dining rooms here live by the calendar. From late spring through September the sidewalks fill with people off the beaches and the boats, and a table at seven on a Saturday is not something to leave to chance. Through the winter the same rooms turn quieter and more local, and walking in is usually no trouble at all. Reservations, group bookings and whether a kitchen can work around allergies or dietary needs are all better settled on the phone than at the door.
Parking downtown is metered on the street and pooled in a handful of lots off Bernard and Water Street, and the closer you get to the lake in July, the more sense it makes to leave the car a few blocks back and walk the rest. Anyone staying in the core can reach this address on foot from most of the hotels, and the beach at the foot of the street makes an easy stroll after a meal. Driving in from Rutland or the Mission, allow extra time on summer evenings, when Harvey Avenue and the downtown streets both slow to a crawl.
