About Pacific Poke
Two blocks from the water, at 219 Bernard Avenue, Pacific Poke sits on the downtown Kelowna street that carries most of the core's foot traffic. Bernard is where the offices, restaurants and shops of the civic centre concentrate before the grid steps down into the waterfront parks, and another business shares the same address, so check the unit when you arrive.
The name suggests a build-your-own bowl, assembled from a base, a protein, sauces and toppings chosen along a line rather than picked off a fixed menu. That kind of quick assembly service suits a fast lunch and it suits hot weather, which the Okanagan supplies in quantity from June onward. Because a counter built this way often puts each order together in front of you, it is usually easy to flag an allergy or ask for something left out, though it is worth confirming directly rather than assuming a standard build. Portion sizes and formats differ between counters in this line.
Downtown eating has a rhythm worth working with. The weekday lunch peak runs short and sharp, while summer evenings fill the street with people heading to and from the beaches and the waterfront parks. Parking on Bernard itself is the scarcest thing in the neighbourhood, so a parkade a block off the avenue, or an approach on foot from the lake, usually costs less time than circling. If you are feeding a group from a nearby office, phoning the order in ahead saves standing in the queue.
