Outlook Cabin
About Outlook Cabin
South of Vernon the land lifts into the Commonage, a stretch of rolling grassland that separates the city from the hills and the golf country beyond. Acreages have been filling it in gradually, drawn by the long views back across the valley, and it remains a quieter address than anything in town. Outlook Cabin sits up in that country at 602 Predator Ridge Dr, which makes a visit a deliberate trip rather than a stroll between shops.
Eating out here is a different proposition from eating downtown. It is a drive rather than a walk, the seasons count for more, and a room in golf country tends to follow the weather and the golfing calendar rather than the shopping day. That makes phoning ahead genuinely worth the minute it takes, particularly outside of summer, and worth doing again if you are bringing a group or planning to arrive late in the evening.
What the Commonage gives in exchange is the view. The ground sits high enough for long sightlines across the valley, and the light in the last hour before sunset is the reason many people book a table up here at all. Asking about timing when you reserve is entirely reasonable. The drive up from the city runs around twenty minutes in fair weather, less from the south end of town, though the road climbs and winter conditions on the hill are not the same as conditions on the flat below. Snow tires and a little extra time are simply part of visiting this side of Vernon between November and March.
