The Edge
About The Edge
Ground rises sharply behind Okanagan Landing, and the benches above the lake have filled in over the years with homes and golf country looking back across the water toward the city. The Edge sits up in that terrain at 8800 Rising View Way, on the slope above the old steamboat port where Okanagan Lake comes to its northern end.
A restaurant that operates inside a resort property usually runs a wider brief than a standalone room, serving guests staying on site as well as people driving up from town just for the meal. That mix is worth keeping in mind when planning a visit, since availability can shift with whatever else is happening on the property on a given day. More about the room, and about the property around it, sits at theriseresort.ca.
Getting there means climbing out of the Landing, so allow more time than the distance on a map suggests, and give the drive some thought in winter, when higher ground holds snow longer than the flat by the water. Vernon's four real seasons are part of the trade-off of living at this end of the valley, and elevation sharpens them. Summer is the opposite problem: long light evenings, a view down the length of the lake, and a great many people wanting the same table at the same hour. Book ahead for anything near sunset.
