About Lynn's Vietnamese
Okanagan Landing has always kept a bit of distance from the rest of the city. It was the steamboat port at the end of Okanagan Lake long before it was a neighbourhood, and it still feels like its own place, with a marina, beaches and a summer population that swells well past what the winter streets would suggest. Lynn's Vietnamese is out that way, at 5419 27 Ave.
Vietnamese kitchens have become a familiar part of eating out in British Columbia towns of every size, and the appeal is easy enough to explain. The cooking leans on broth, herbs, rice and noodles, it accommodates people who want something light and people who want a full bowl, and it usually offers a straightforward path for anyone avoiding meat. Beyond those broad strokes, individual kitchens vary a great deal in what they offer and how they run, so the room you walk into in one town is rarely the same as the one in the next.
Out at the Landing the practical considerations are seasonal. Summer brings boat traffic, beach traffic and visitors staying nearby, so the middle of a July evening looks nothing like the same hour in November, and small kitchens in lakeside neighbourhoods often adjust their week as the season turns. A call before you drive out from downtown or in from the Commonage is the sensible step, particularly for a larger group or a takeout order you want ready. Parking near the water fills fast on hot days, so allow yourself a short walk at the end.
