About Central Animal Hospital
A sick animal turns an ordinary day into an urgent one, and the first question is always the same: who can see us, and how soon. Veterinary practices cover a wide range of work, from vaccinations and dental cleaning through to surgery, diagnostics and end-of-life care, and the balance differs from clinic to clinic. Some also see what a rural district brings in, which around the North Okanagan can mean rather more than cats and dogs.
Central Animal Hospital is on Kalamalka Lake Rd at number 1901, on the East Hill side of Vernon. East Hill slopes up east of the centre, full of older character homes with long views toward both lakes, and the road carries on south toward Kalamalka Lake itself. For anyone living on that side of the city, or coming up from the acreages on the Commonage, it is a shorter run than crossing to the far side of town with an anxious animal in the back seat.
Call before you drive, always. Clinics book routine work well ahead, and how they handle urgent cases during the day differs; some hold slots open, some will direct you elsewhere depending on what is happening in the treatment room. Ask what to bring, particularly previous history if you have moved into Vernon recently, and ask which species they see if yours is not a cat or a dog. Ask about after-hours arrangements while nothing is wrong, because the middle of the night is a poor time to learn the answer.
