About Creekside Animal Clinic
Pet owners in the North Okanagan tend to sort out two things early: who they call for the routine visits, and what happens when something goes wrong at nine on a Sunday night. Creekside Animal Clinic is at 5001 24 St in Vernon, on the north side of the numbered grid that organises most of the city below East Hill.
Veterinary practices generally cover vaccinations, wellness examinations, dental care, diagnostics and surgery for cats and dogs, and they differ in what else they will take on. Some see only companion animals while others handle the horses and livestock that come with a valley full of hayfields and pasture, and it is a fair question to ask before you load a trailer. Two other things are worth settling in advance. Ask whether the practice is taking new patients, since that changes with the size of the team, and ask how after hours emergencies are covered, because arrangements differ and you do not want to be working that out while holding a sick animal.
Animals here live through four genuine seasons. Summer brings heat, foxtails and long days on the trails around both lakes, and winter brings cold that is harder on old joints than anything the south end of the valley produces. The surrounding country is agricultural, with dairy farms in the townships and orchards on the benches, so a Vernon practice can see a house cat, a farm dog and a working horse in the same week. Anyone driving in from the Commonage or out past Swan Lake should factor the trip into the appointment time.
