Wild Ambition Tasting Room
About Wild Ambition Tasting Room
A tasting room is a different animal from a shop with shelves. The point is trying before deciding, in small measures, with someone on hand who can say what is in the glass and how it was made. Wild Ambition Tasting Room is at 3314 Appaloosa Road in Rutland, and wildambition.beer is the place to look first.
Rooms of this kind pour whatever the brewery has ready at that moment, which is why the line-up is rarely fixed for long. Some visitors settle in for an hour, others fill a container and leave again, and both are perfectly normal. Worth asking: what is on right now, what can go home with you and in what format, whether there is food on site or whether people bring their own, and whether children and dogs are welcome, because that last answer varies enormously from one room to another.
The Rutland setting keeps this well away from the waterfront circuit that visitors usually follow, and that has its advantages. Parking is easier out here than downtown, the traffic is local rather than seasonal, and the run across from Glenmore or down from Black Mountain is short. If you are planning a route with several stops, remember that Kelowna is long rather than compact, and a single crossing between the northeast and the Mission eats more of an afternoon than the map suggests. Sorting out who is driving before you leave matters more here than in a walkable district.
