Wild Ambition Brewing
About Wild Ambition Brewing
Brewing arrived in the Okanagan on the coattails of wine, and the valley now supports both trades comfortably. Wild Ambition Brewing works out of 3314 Appaloosa Rd in Rutland, the large district filling the northeast corner of Kelowna, away from the lakefront and the visitor blocks and closer to the everyday side of the city.
A production brewery does several things at once: brew, package, hold what is ready, and keep an eye on whatever is fermenting for next month. That means the range on offer moves through the year. Something that filled the tanks in spring may be finished by midsummer, with a new batch in its place. Reasonable questions for anyone tracking a particular release are what is currently ready and when the next batch is expected, since the line-up turns over faster than a sign out front can keep up with.
Rutland holds some of the more affordable housing in the valley and a busy commercial strip of its own, with traffic that is local rather than seasonal. Appaloosa Road sits in the working part of that district, the sort of light industrial pocket where breweries tend to end up because the space and the loading access are there. It is an easy drive from Glenmore or down off Black Mountain and a longer one from the Mission, so build the crossing time into your plans if you are coming from the south end of the city.
