Kettle River Brewing
About Kettle River Brewing
The North End has quietly become the part of Kelowna where things get made. Old light industrial sheds a few blocks up from downtown now hold studios, small manufacturers and cafes, and Kettle River Brewing works from 731 Baillie Ave in the middle of it, close enough to the core that walking or cycling in beats hunting for a parking spot.
Small breweries generally split their attention between the brewhouse and the taproom, and the taproom is where a visitor meets them. Expect a rotating handful of beers alongside whatever the regular lineup is, tasting flights for working out what you like, and takeaway in cans or refillable growlers, though fill options differ from one brewery to the next and are worth asking about at 250-862-5115. Food works differently in every taproom too. Some have a kitchen, some bring in trucks, and some let you order in, so it is worth checking before you build an evening around it.
A few things to know before you go. Taprooms are licensed rooms with the rules that come with that, so bring identification and sort out a designated driver or a rideshare, particularly if you are heading back up to Glenmore or the hillside neighbourhoods afterwards. Taprooms in this part of town can vary quite a bit through the week and through the seasons, so a look at kettleriverbrewing.ca or a quick call before heading over saves a wasted trip. Groups are better announced in advance, since taproom seating is limited and summer evenings bring locals and visitors in off the lake at the same time.
