About Vice & Virtue

The North End has been quietly filling its older houses and light industrial sheds with makers, studios and small production spaces, and Richter Street runs through the middle of that change. Vice and Virtue sits at 1033 Richter Street, a short distance north of the downtown core.

A shop with brewing right there in its web address is still first and foremost a place to buy a bottle or a can rather than a taproom, and the name is best read as a hint about what fills the shelves. It is worth asking what is currently in stock, since a shop leaning into craft and small batch beer tends to turn its selection over faster than a general liquor store, and what was on the shelf last month may already be gone. If you are buying for a group, ask about mixed packs and about whether the shop will special order something it does not normally carry. Details are posted at viceandvirtuebrewing.ca.

There is a practical geography to a stop like this one. The North End is walkable from downtown and easy on a bicycle, which suits an errand that usually means carrying bottles or a case back out to a car or a bike bag. Kelowna's reputation abroad rests on the wine grown up on the benches, but the streets just back from the waterfront have made room for beer as well, and a slow afternoon working north from the lake takes in a fair amount of the neighbourhood on foot.
