The Vibrant Vine Winery
About The Vibrant Vine Winery
Pooley Road climbs away from the flats of Rutland into the orchard and vineyard benches that rise behind the northeast of the city, and 3240 Pooley Road sits on that slope. The Vibrant Vine Winery is a short drive from the Rutland town centre, and the change in the landscape over that distance is what surprises most first time visitors: dense residential streets give way to rows and gravel driveways within a couple of minutes.
The name suggests a working vineyard behind the counter, and wine shops in the Okanagan do vary in how close they sit to the source: some pour and sell right at an actual vineyard, while others are straightforward retail rooms carrying bottles from producers all over the valley. What is on the shelf, whether tastings are offered, and whether tours, group bookings or shipping are part of the business are all worth asking about directly. Liquor stores in wine country generally stock a heavier share of local bottles than a supermarket aisle does, alongside the usual range of beer and spirits.
Call ahead at 778-478-4153 or look at thevibrantvine.com before you set out, especially outside summer and especially if there are more than a few of you. Sort out the driving before you go; the benches above Rutland are no place to be casual about it if anyone in the group plans on drinking, and a designated driver or a tour van is the normal solution here. Give the roads more time than the map suggests, wear something for the sun, and if you intend to buy, think about how much you can carry back with you.
