About Central Kitchen
A downtown address on Ellis Street puts a kitchen in the middle of the busiest few blocks Kelowna has. Central Kitchen is at 1155 Ellis Street, in the stretch north of Bernard Avenue where offices, galleries and older commercial buildings sit close enough together that lunch is a walk rather than a drive. The waterfront parks are a few minutes west, the cultural buildings are immediately around it, and the North End begins just beyond.
Eating downtown here follows the seasons more sharply than visitors expect. From June through September the sidewalks fill, patios go up and tables at the popular hours are harder to come by. Across the winter the same blocks belong mostly to the people who work in them, and the pace changes accordingly. That rhythm affects everything from how long you wait to whether a room is running full service or a shorter counter operation on a given afternoon, so a quick phone call before you set out is rarely wasted.
When you are choosing where to eat in this part of the city, the practical things to settle in advance are whether reservations are taken, how the room handles a larger group, and what the options look like if someone in your party has an allergy or eats plant based. Parking is the other consideration, since Ellis Street has metered stalls and the nearby lots fill through summer evenings. Walking in from a hotel in the core, or up from the waterfront, is usually the least frustrating approach.
