About GetintheLoop Restaurant
Buying dinner and buying groceries are usually two separate errands, and once in a while they sit behind the same door. GetintheLoop Restaurant works from 1353 Ellis Street in the downtown core, the few blocks of offices, restaurants and cultural venues that step down toward the waterfront parks on Okanagan Lake.
Somewhere that covers both a meal and a shop is a different proposition from either one on its own, and the useful questions are about format. Whether food is made to order or picked up off a shelf, whether there is room to sit or the trade runs mostly to takeaway, and how much of the floor goes to groceries against prepared food all decide whether the trip is the right one to make. Doors along the northern end of the core also vary in how they present to the street, since not every building here was put up for shopfront retail, so confirming where you are meant to turn up is a minute well spent before driving in from another part of the city.
Downtown Kelowna is compact enough to walk once the car is parked, and this address sits within a few blocks of the waterfront parks, the museums and the Bernard Avenue strip, which makes it easy to fold into another errand in the core. Parking tightens through the working day and again through the visitor season, which runs hot, dry and crowded from June through September, though there are lots a street or two back when the kerb is full. From Rutland, Glenmore or the Mission the trip in is straightforward, though the arterials slow at the end of the working day.
