About Pizza Studio
Downtown blocks between Ellis and the waterfront pack in offices, apartments and the visitors who wander up from the beaches, and that mix keeps a steady appetite for something quick and hot. Pizza Studio is found at 1360 Ellis Street, a few minutes on foot from the civic buildings, the galleries and the parks along the lake.
Pizza places differ from one another more than the shared name suggests. Some build around thin, fast baked crusts, others work with pan or wood fired ovens that need longer, and the difference shows up in wait times as much as in the eating. Ordering by the slice, ordering a whole pie for a group and ordering for pickup are three different transactions, and it is fair to ask which the kitchen is set up for at the hour you plan to arrive. Anyone catering for a dietary restriction should ask directly rather than assume, since crust and topping options vary from one kitchen to the next.
Downtown Kelowna has filled in steadily over the past couple of decades, with residential towers rising among older two storey commercial buildings and a street level economy that now runs well into the evening. That works in favour of anyone on foot, because the waterfront, the cultural venues and a good number of places to eat sit inside a walkable few blocks, and Ellis Street is close to the middle of it. Summer brings festivals and beach traffic that fill the parkade spaces early, so an evening visit in July is easier if you leave the car further out. In the quieter months the same blocks are calm enough to park almost at the door.
