At the northern edge of Vernon the city loosens into highway frontage, market gardens and the shallow water of Swan Lake with its nature reserve, and the commercial strip through there catches both local traffic and everyone passing on their way north or south. Taco Del Mar is at 5721 24 Street in that part of town.
Quick service counters live or die on being predictable. The format is familiar enough: order at the till, choose from a short list of formats built around a handful of fillings, then eat in or carry it out, with the whole exchange designed to take minutes rather than half an hour. What differs from one location to another is worth checking rather than assuming, including whether there is a drive-through, whether seating is more than a few tables, whether delivery apps cover the address, and whether phone or online ordering is available for a group. Anyone ordering for a work crew or a carload of hungry people should call it in first, since a large order placed at the counter stalls the queue behind it.
The Swan Lake corridor is where a lot of Vernon's practical errands happen, mixed in with the highway trade, so the busy periods here are the obvious ones: the middle of the day, the drive home at the end of it, and the summer months when traffic through the north end of the valley thickens considerably. Parking is generally easier than downtown. If you are heading further up the highway, this is the last convenient stop before the city gives way to farmland.
