Renewal notices do not much care what kind of month you are having. Vehicle coverage that lapses on a particular date, travel medical before a flight, a home policy that needs a second look after a renovation: it all lands as paperwork with a deadline on it, and most of it goes faster sitting across a desk from somebody than it does alone with a screen.

Bring more documentation than feels necessary to a first conversation about coverage: whatever is up for renewal, the paperwork that goes with it, and a plain account of how the thing being insured actually gets used, since that is where a quote holds up or falls apart later. A policy for something that spends most of its time on the highway down to Kelowna is a different conversation from one that mostly sits on a quiet street on East Hill, so describe actual use rather than how you would like to use it.
