About Millionaires' Row Cider Co.
Prairie Valley lies behind the bench, an inland basin holding the schools and the sports fields, with roads running west past the orchards into open country. Millionaires' Row Cider Co. is out that way at 14113 Dale Meadows Road, close enough to town for a short errand and far enough that the surroundings turn agricultural almost immediately.
Cider making sits somewhere between farming and brewing. Fruit is pressed once a year in the autumn, the juice ferments through the cold months, and what comes out is blended, sometimes aged, then packaged for a selling season that runs long after the trees have gone bare. Producers differ in how they work. Some press only apples grown on their own ground, some buy from neighbours, some bring in pears or berries, and some keep to a still dry style while others pour something fizzy and light. Tasting across whatever is available is the fastest way to find out where a given maker sits.
Summerland carries more cider than most towns its size, which follows naturally from a district that has grown apples for well over a century and a research station that has spent much of that time studying how they do here. For visitors the practical points are ordinary. Check what is open before setting out in the quieter months, allow more driving time than the map suggests because the bench roads climb and wind, and keep the drinking to whoever is not behind the wheel on the way home.

Eating in Summerland: Victoria Road, the cove and the benches above
Summerland eats in three pockets that barely touch: the brick main street on Victoria Road, Shaughnessy's Cove down by the beach, and the winery kitchens on the benches above town. Where each one wins.
