The fiftieth parallel of latitude crosses the valley in this part of the north Okanagan, far enough north that growing wine grapes is a matter of long summer daylight balanced against a short season. 50th Parallel Estate works that ground at 17101 Terrace View Road in Carr's Landing, sharing the address with one other business.

Ask whether tastings are seated or walk-up, and whether the fee comes off a purchase. Ask what is actually open to pour, since small lots sell through and the list in September rarely matches the list in May. If you plan to take wine home to another province or overseas, raise shipping early, because the rules vary and some destinations cannot be served at all.
Carr's Landing occupies the northern shoulder of the district, where orchard benchland gives way to vine rows and the lake sits well below the road. Most visitors arrive by way of Winfield off Highway 97, which adds a slow and rather pretty climb to the trip. Vernon is a short run north and Kelowna a longer one south, and while the highway carries you through all four of the old Lake Country communities in about ten minutes, leaving it for the back roads costs considerably more time than that. Give yourself the extra.
