About Picnic
Kelowna's university sits in the hills where Glenmore climbs toward the ridge, and Picnic works out of that stretch at 3272 University Way, an address it shares with a handful of other operations. On a first visit the useful question is which building and which floor rather than which street number, and a quick call to 250 807 8078 saves circling the parking lots looking for a sign.
Campus food service runs on a different clock from a street front room downtown, busier when classes are in session and quieter when they are not. Counters in this setting usually lean toward quick service, something you can carry to a table and eat between classes before moving on. If you are visiting rather than studying, it is worth asking whether the till takes ordinary payment as well as student accounts, and whether the seating is open to the public outside the busiest hours. What is available across the campus is gathered at food.ok.ubc.ca.
Getting here means committing to the hill. The route from downtown climbs through Glenmore's family streets and past newer subdivisions before the university grounds open out toward the airport end of the city. Parking is paid and fills early on weekday mornings when classes are running, so anyone arriving mid morning should budget extra minutes. Kelowna is a spread out city at the best of times, and this corner of Glenmore is one of the places where that spread is most obvious. Plan the visit as a trip rather than an errand and it goes better.
