About Mavara Indian Bistro
Table service changes the pace of an Indian meal compared with a quick counter, and Mavara Indian Bistro serves that slower version from 1730 Pier Mac Way, in the newer commercial pocket of Glenmore that grew up alongside Kelowna's expansion north of downtown rather than inheriting an old main street. The building holds two other businesses as well, so the entrance is worth locating before you arrive hungry.
In Indian kitchens the practical questions are much the same wherever you eat: how the spice levels are calibrated, which breads come out of a tandoor, whether the vegetarian dishes are cooked separately, and how well a given dish will hold if you are carrying it home rather than eating in. Ordering by phone at 778-940-1600 is straightforward for takeout, and online ordering runs through mavara.yogodine.com for anyone who would rather build an order without a conversation.
Glenmore is central in a way that suits travel in both directions. Downtown is a short run south, the campus corridor and the hillside neighbourhoods climb away to the northeast, and the valley floor streets here move faster than the highway does at the same hour. Parking in this kind of newer commercial development is usually generous, which is not something that can be said of downtown in July. Larger groups are best arranged in advance, since a smaller dining room leaves less flexibility for a walk-in table.
