Murray's Pizza
About Murray's Pizza
Dilworth Mountain rises straight out of the middle of Kelowna, and the roads that wrap it serve a hillside of houses with long views over the city and the lake. Murray's Pizza works from 1924 Summit Drive on that slope, in a pocket where the nearest shops are a short drive rather than a walk for most households.
Pizza places vary more than the shared name suggests, and the differences are the ones worth a question before ordering. Dough style, oven type and whether a kitchen does anything beyond pizza all change what arrives at the door. So does the service model, since some run a dining room, some are built for pickup, and delivery zones on a hillside can be tighter than customers expect because a short distance on a map is a long climb in practice. Ordering peaks hard on Friday and Saturday evenings, so a call placed before the rush is worth more than one placed in the middle of it. The number is 778-484-3000 and the menu sits at murrays.pizza.
Coming up from the valley floor, the approach off Harvey Avenue and through the Dilworth streets is straightforward but climbs quickly, and the curves are enough that a first time visitor should look at the turn before setting off. The hill catches wind and holds a little more snow than the flats during the short Kelowna winter, which is worth a thought in January. From Glenmore, Rutland or the mall district the drive is only a few minutes, and the views on the way up are a fair part of the trip.
