About DLUX Boutique
Independent clothing shops depend on a good eye and a tight edit. Where a chain buys the same rack for two hundred stores, a boutique represents one person's judgement about what will suit the people who walk through the door, which is why stock in a small shop turns over faster and why regulars tend to check in rather than wait for a sale.
This one is on Pandosy Street at the downtown end, where the street begins its run south toward the lakeside village and the Mission beyond. It shares a building with another business, which is common along this stretch of older frontage. Downtown parking is metered and fills through the summer, so the side streets a block off Pandosy are usually the easier bet, particularly on a warm Saturday.
Boutique shopping rewards a little planning. Sizing varies enormously between labels, so go in with time to try things rather than treating it as a quick stop, and if you are after something specific it does no harm to phone ahead and describe what you want. Ask about alterations and whether they are handled on site or referred out, since fit is usually the reason for buying from a small shop in the first place. Seasonal turnover in Kelowna is pronounced, with lighter stock arriving early for a long hot summer and the changeover to autumn happening quickly, so something you saw a month ago may well have moved on. Visitors from out of town will find these blocks walkable and easy to combine with the waterfront.
