About Chutney

South of downtown, Pandosy Street settles into a low-rise village of shops, apartments and side streets that lead down toward the beaches. Chutney is at 3011 Pandosy Street, in the middle of that run, where the district manages to feel residential and commercial at the same time and where parking is a mix of small lots and side street stalls.

The neighbourhood suits eating out. Pandosy is walkable in a way most of Kelowna is not, and it draws on the surrounding Lower Mission streets as much as on visitors, which tends to give the restaurants along it a steadier year-round trade than the tourist blocks downtown. The lake is a few minutes away on foot, and the Mission Creek greenway is close enough to build an evening around if you want a walk before or after.

Choosing where to eat is easier with a few questions settled first. Whether reservations are taken and how far ahead, what the room does with a larger group, whether there is a patio and how it is handled once the evenings cool off in September, and how the kitchen manages allergies or a vegetarian at the table are all worth clearing up before you arrive. In a district this compact it is also worth walking the block first, since several places sit within a few doors of one another and the atmosphere varies more than the frontages let on.
