About Choices Markets
Grocery shopping in Kelowna mostly happens along Harvey Avenue, the highway corridor that carries traffic through the middle of the city and collects the larger stores on either side of it. Choices Markets is at 1937 Harvey Avenue on the Dilworth side, close enough to downtown, Glenmore and the hillside neighbourhoods to serve as a weekly stop for people coming from several districts at once.
Not every grocer is trying to do the same job. Some compete on breadth and price, some on prepared food and a deli counter, and some build their trade around organic produce, bulk goods, local suppliers and specialty diets. Which one you want depends on the errand: a full weekly shop, a quick pick-up on the way home from the highway, or a hunt for something a larger supermarket will not carry. It is a fair question to ask whether a grocer will order in a case of something that is not normally on the shelf.
The Okanagan makes all of this more interesting than it would be elsewhere. The valley grows a great deal of what ends up in the aisles, and the local season moves from cherries and soft fruit through the summer to apples, squash and root vegetables in the fall, so produce sections here change noticeably across the year. Harvey Avenue traffic is heaviest at the end of the working day and through the visitor months, which is worth planning around. The store number is 250-862-4864.
