About Third Generation Painters
Vernon painting crew taking on Summerland exteriors, stucco, cabinets, and the ongoing deck and fence staining that keeps a house looking cared for.
There is a difference between painting wood and rescuing it, and on a bench full of old orchard buildings, cedar siding and pergolas that have taken decades of hard summer light, the second one comes up a lot.
Rescue starts by taking off what failed. Old stain gone patchy, varnish cracked into flakes, a sealer that stopped sealing three years ago. Then the surface gets sanded back past the grey until the colour underneath shows again, and any board that has rotted or split gets repaired or replaced before anything is applied. Cedar and pressure treated decks, cedar shakes and siding, exposed beams, pergolas, fences, front doors and window frames all go through some version of that sequence.
The full method is set out under restoring weathered wood. Where the timber is still sound and simply wants colour and protection, the shorter route is deck and fence staining.
Third Generation Painters is Brook Nullmeyer's company, run from Vernon since January 2023 and before that from Thornbury in Ontario. Its everyday territory is Greater Vernon and the North Okanagan. Summerland is a good deal further down the lake than that, so a job here would need arranging rather than slotting in, and the phone call is the place to find out.
If it goes ahead, you get $5 million in liability cover, WorkSafeBC registration, Benjamin Moore materials and a free estimate first. Brook is on 250-878-1702.
