About Dragonboat Pub
Toward the Skaha end of the city the streets run close to the water and things loosen up a little compared with the downtown blocks. Dragonboat Pub is at 3895 Lakeside Road, on the south side of Penticton.
A pub away from the centre works differently from one in the middle of town. More people arrive by car, the crowd leans local through much of the year, and the summer months bring whoever is already down at the lake for the day. Food service, closing time and whether a patio is open are the details that change most between one place and the next, and they are the details that decide whether a plan works. A patio adds its own layer of rules in British Columbia, since outdoor liquor service needs its own approved area separate from the room inside.
Skaha Lake sits at the southern end of a city compact enough that nothing is far from anything else, so the run back downtown is short. What does change is the calendar. Between June and September this side of town carries beach traffic all day, and the shoulder seasons are quieter in a way that can catch people out. A call ahead is cheap insurance in the off months, particularly if you are driving in from one of the smaller communities south of here. Okanagan Falls sits along that same route south on Highway 97, close enough that a fair amount of its weekend traffic passes through here heading into Penticton.

Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
