Bench 1775
About Bench 1775
Head northeast out of Penticton and the road climbs onto the Naramata Bench, a shelf of land above the east side of Okanagan Lake lined with vineyards on both sides of the route. Bench 1775 is a liquor store out along that road at 1775 Naramata Road, above the water and only a short drive from the city.
A liquor store out on the bench serves a slightly different crowd than one downtown. It sits among working vineyards rather than storefronts, so the everyday traffic includes people who live along the road as well as visitors touring the wineries who want to pick something up on the way past. As with any liquor store in this province, identification gets checked at the counter, and what happens to be in stock on a given day is worth asking about rather than assuming.
The phone number is +1-250-490-4965, and bench1775.com has more on how to get in touch. Naramata Road itself is a slow two-lane route that climbs past vineyard after vineyard, shared with a good number of cyclists through the summer, so it rewards patience behind the wheel. The bench sits close enough to Penticton that a stop here fits easily into a longer drive along the route, with the lake below on one side and the hills rising on the other for most of the way.

Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
