About Red Rooster
Wine country begins almost immediately once you leave the north end of Penticton and start up the east side of Okanagan Lake. The Naramata Bench, the terraced ground above the water on that side, carries vineyards for much of its length, and Red Rooster sits at 891 Naramata Road on that route out of the city. The lake lies below on one side of the drive and the slope climbs away on the other.
Visiting out on the bench is a different errand from picking up a bottle in town. Tasting rooms keep seasonal schedules, busy from late spring through the harvest crush and much quieter once the vines are dormant, so a phone call or a look at the website before driving out saves a wasted trip. Ask whether tastings need to be booked, whether there is a fee, how large a group can be accommodated, and what is available to buy beyond whatever is being poured that day. Anyone planning to taste properly should sort out a driver first.
Some visitors arrive on two wheels rather than four, which changes how much you can reasonably carry home. Shipping and case pickup are worth asking about. Penticton is close enough that the whole outing fits comfortably into an afternoon, with time left for a swim at the north end before dinner. In summer the parking areas along the bench fill early in the day, so a morning visit is usually the calmer one.

Where to shop in Penticton: small, walkable and mostly local
Penticton's shopping is smaller than Kelowna's and more its own thing: a Main Street of independents, specialty food shops that outclass their size, and Cherry Lane covering the mall tier.
