Grocery Stores
Family run grocery, deli and liquor store on Robinson Avenue, open long hours nearly every day of the year since 1979.
Naramata's only general store sits at 219 Robinson Avenue, a short walk from the wharf and the middle of the village. The Naramata General Store has been family owned and operated since 1979, long enough that it has outlasted most of the specialty shops that have opened and closed around it. In an unincorporated community with no traffic light, no big box store and no gas station, a general store like this one ends up carrying more weight than its size suggests: it is the grocery store, the deli counter, the liquor store and often the first stop for a visitor trying to work out where anything else in town actually is.
The shelves cover the basics that a small permanent population and a much larger summer crowd both need: packaged groceries, fresh deli items, dairy and produce, ice cream, and a beer and wine selection that leans on the wineries up and down the bench. Small stores in wine country towns like this one typically end up as an informal information counter too, since staff tend to know current tasting room hours and road conditions better than any app does. Postal outlet service is handled from the same counter, which is common in small BC communities where Canada Post does not run a standalone office.
Hours run long by small town standards, with the store open most days of the year and closed only for Christmas Day, which matters in a community where the nearest larger grocery selection is a drive into Penticton. Confirming current hours before a special trip out from Penticton is still sensible, particularly outside the summer season when hours can shift.
