Elephant Island Orchard Wines is located at 2730 Aikins Loop, on the network of side roads off Naramata Road that carries most of the bench's smaller producers. Founded in 1999, it built its name on fruit wine rather than the grape wine that dominates the rest of the bench, using apricots, pears, cherries and other tree fruit instead of grapes as the base for what it makes, alongside a smaller range of grape wines.
In 2017 the winery added Naramata Cider Co as a second brand made at the same site, reflecting a broader shift across the Okanagan toward cider as an extension of an existing fruit growing or fruit wine operation rather than a separate business built from scratch. Fruit wine occupies an unusual position in a region built around grape wine tourism: it draws on the same orchard heritage that shaped Naramata before the vineyards arrived, while still fitting into a bench wine tour built mainly around Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The tasting room, called the Acorn, is open daily through the fall tasting season, with walk ins welcome and advance booking recommended for larger groups. The winery can be reached at 250-496-5522 to confirm current hours before visiting, since seasonal producers on the bench often shorten their hours once fall harvest activity picks up.
