About Vineyard Terrace Restaurant
Some meals are worth the drive out of the middle of town, and the run south along Lakeshore Road is one of the better ones in the valley, with water on one side and the benches climbing away on the other. Vineyard Terrace Restaurant is out that way at 5445 Lakeshore Road.
Dining at the edge of a city works differently from dining downtown. Rooms out here often keep tighter seasons and shorter weeks than a place in the core, so a call before you set out is worth the two minutes, particularly outside the summer months. Reservations count for more than they do in town on a warm evening, when everyone has the same idea at the same hour. If you are arriving with a group, or hoping to sit outside, mention both when you book. And since the Okanagan puts wine in front of nearly everybody, settle who is driving before the first glass, because it is a long way back to most of Kelowna from the southern benches.
Kettle Valley is a planned village on the Upper Mission slopes, laid out around a small core with playing fields and trails, and the ground around it rises fast toward the southern edge of the city. Views come with that elevation. The drive back down to Pandosy or downtown takes longer than a map suggests, especially in summer when the lakeshore route fills with beach traffic. Anyone staying at the south end, or spending a day on the water down there, will find this a far shorter trip than heading into the core to eat.
