Valley Medical Laboratories
About Valley Medical Laboratories
A requisition from a doctor is only half of the errand, because the sample still has to be drawn, labelled and sent somewhere to be read. Valley Medical Laboratories works from 1940 Kane Road in Glenmore, in a building shared with a number of other tenants.
Laboratory visits go smoothly or badly depending on preparation. Fasting tests usually mean nothing but water for eight to twelve hours, which is why people book them early and bring breakfast along for the drive home. Take the paper requisition and a provincial care card, and check ahead whether a particular test needs to be booked, since routine blood work and the more involved collections are handled differently. If a child is being drawn, say so when you arrange the visit, because the approach and the equipment are not the same. Timed samples, anything collected at home across a full day, and tests ordered by a specialist outside the province all carry their own rules, and asking about them on the phone beats discovering them at the counter.
Glenmore sits on the valley floor between downtown and the campus corridor climbing into the hills to the northeast, which makes this a practical spot for households in Wilden, Dilworth and the north end of the city. Kane Road is off the main highway run, so the approach is calmer than anything on Harvey Avenue. Other tenants occupy the same building, so one trip can sometimes cover more than one errand, and that counts for something in a city as spread out as this one.
