A family practice handles the long game: continuing care for chronic conditions, prescriptions, referrals, screening, childhood and adult immunizations, and the forms that employers, insurers and licensing bodies ask for. Because access is tight across the province and the Okanagan is no exception, the first question for a new arrival is usually whether a clinic is taking patients at all and whether there is a waitlist worth joining. Ask as well how refills are handled between visits, whether phone or video appointments are offered, and what the arrangement is when your own doctor is away for a stretch.
Downtown Kelowna is compact enough to walk once the car is parked, and Gordon Drive links it south toward Pandosy and the Mission and north toward Glenmore. Street parking downtown can be tight in the middle of the day, so allow a few minutes to find a spot rather than arriving on the hour. Bring your Services Card, a current medication list and any records from a previous province, since those transfers seldom happen on their own. For anything that will not wait, the hospital is the fallback, and it is worth learning that route before you need it.
