The Mission Creamery
About The Mission Creamery
Lakeshore Road threads the Lower Mission between the beaches and the older residential streets, and 4649 Lakeshore Road puts The Mission Creamery on that run, in a district built for warm evenings and slow walks. The Mission Creek greenway is close, the shore is closer, and the whole neighbourhood shifts outdoors once the valley heat settles in for the summer.
Frozen dessert counters live and die by the season in a climate like this one. July and August bring a queue that runs out the door on a hot night, while the shoulder months are quiet enough to have the place to yourself. What differs from one scoop shop to another is the shape of the offer: cones and cups over the counter, tubs to take home, sundaes and floats, dairy free and sorbet options for people who need them, and sometimes cakes or party trays ordered in advance. Not every counter does all of that.
Plan a visit around the traffic rather than the clock. Lakeshore Road backs up on summer afternoons and parking near the beaches disappears early, so walking or cycling in from the surrounding streets is often the sensible move. Families heading down from Kettle Valley or the Upper Mission benches should factor the drive in both directions. If you want something specific, whether that is a larger order for a birthday or a particular option for someone avoiding dairy, ask about it before you arrive rather than at the front of the line.
