About St. Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery
Waterfront acreage is rare in this valley, which is why so many of the vineyards that have it sit close to the shoreline itself rather than up on the benches. St. Hubertus and Oak Bay Estate Winery is at 3225 Lakeshore Road, close enough to Okanagan Lake that the water belongs to the setting rather than sitting in the distance.
Lakeside vineyard sites work differently from the benches above town. Deep water moderates temperature, holding off frost in spring and autumn and softening the edge of a valley summer, which is why so much of the Okanagan's planting hugs the shoreline. For visitors, a shoreline winery usually means a tasting room, a shop and somewhere to stand and look at the lake, though what else is on offer varies: some host events, some have picnic space, some keep to a counter and a short pour. Ask whether tastings are booked or walk in, and whether there is a fee.
The practical notes are seasonal. Lakeshore Road is one of the busiest routes in south Kelowna once the beaches fill, so allow extra time between June and September and expect parking to be tight at midday. Winter is quieter and hours across the wine industry contract accordingly, which makes the phone at 250-764-7888 the fastest way to check before driving out, with st-hubertus.bc.ca covering the rest. If you are combining a visit with a swim or a walk on the Mission beaches, do the tasting last, and settle transport before you begin, since Lakeshore has narrow shoulders and little lighting once the sun drops.
