Downtown Kelowna keeps its restaurants close to everything else, in a few blocks of offices and cultural venues that step down toward the waterfront parks on Okanagan Lake, and Raudz is part of that stretch at 1508 Water St. It is one of the few parts of the city where you can park once and spend a whole evening on foot, which is the practical case for eating downtown rather than closer to home.
Restaurants in a city this seasonal are worth a call ahead rather than a hopeful walk in, particularly through the warm months when visitors fill the core. When you book, mention the things that are awkward to solve once you are at the table: allergies and dietary restrictions, a high chair, wheelchair access, a group that has grown by two, or a hard stop before a show. Ask whether there is a patio and whether it can be requested, and ask how late the kitchen takes orders, which is usually earlier than the hour the room finally empties.
The valley gives its kitchens an unusual amount to work with. Orchards climb the benches behind the city, vineyards sit a short drive out in several directions, and the growing season runs long and hot, so what shows up in late summer and autumn is a different matter from March. That rhythm fills the streets too. Summer is busy and the roads get busier with it, so allow more time than the map suggests if you are crossing town from Rutland or coming up from the Lower Mission, and consider an earlier seating if you would rather not wait.
