About Ginza Japanese Restaurant
Japanese cooking covers a wide field, from sushi counters to noodle bowls to grilled and simmered dishes, and kitchens trading under the name differ from one another accordingly. Ginza Japanese Restaurant is at 269 Bernard Avenue, downtown, in a building it shares with another business.
If you have a particular meal in mind it pays to call first and find out how the kitchen is set up, because a place built around raw fish runs differently from one built around a hot menu, and plenty of them do both. Other useful questions are whether takeaway is available, whether the room can seat a group, and whether reservations are taken on busy evenings. The core stays busy after dark all year round and considerably busier through the summer, when visitors fill the blocks between the highway end and the water.
Bernard Avenue is the main street of downtown, running down to the lake with the parks and the beach at the bottom of it. That makes a meal here easy to combine with a walk along the water, which is much of the appeal of eating in the core rather than closer to home. Parking is the usual constraint: kerbside spaces on Bernard turn over slowly and the lots a block or two back are the reliable option. From Pandosy and the Lower Mission it is a short drive north along the shore, and from Glenmore or Rutland a straight run in on the arterials.
