About Kelowna Cycle
Cycling in Kelowna is easier than the surrounding hills would suggest, because the valley floor is flat and the routes along the lake and the Mission Creek greenway do most of the work for you. Kelowna Cycle keeps a shop at 2949 Pandosy St, sharing the address with one other business, in the low-rise village stretch south of downtown.
Bike shops are divided between the sales floor and the workshop, and the second is what most people need more often. Tune ups, brake and gear adjustment, wheel truing and tire work are the bread and butter, and the queue grows long in spring when everyone in the city remembers the bike hanging in the garage during the same fortnight. If a repair is urgent, ask how far out the workshop is booked before leaving the bike behind. For a purchase, the questions that matter are about fit and the riding you actually do, since a commuter, a road bike and something built for the trails above town are three different machines.
From Pandosy the flat routes run north to the downtown waterfront and south through the Lower Mission to the beaches, which makes this a practical place to start or end a ride. The hillside neighbourhoods above, from Dilworth across to Black Mountain, are another proposition entirely and a fair reason why many people here own a second bike or an electric one. Summers are hot and dry and the roads get busy with visitors, so early mornings are the kindest hours to be out anywhere near the lake.
