Château Okanagan
About Château Okanagan
Up in the hills above Glenmore, Wilden is a newer forested community built around ponds and trails rather than the grid of the valley floor. Chateau Okanagan sits at 380 Lochview Rd in that setting, high enough above the city that the drive in is a climb and the outlook opens as you go. It is a quieter base than a room in the core, and a different proposition altogether from the places strung along Harvey Avenue.
Where you stay in Kelowna decides how much driving your trip involves, because the city is spread along the lake and up the slopes rather than gathered in one place. From the hills above Glenmore you are on the same side of the city as the airport and the campus corridor to the northeast, a drive down and back for anything downtown, and further again from the Mission beaches and the wineries out along Lakeshore Road at the southern end. Anyone planning a day on the water or a wine tour should factor that in.
Reservations run through 877-363-2294 and chateauokanagan.com. Rooms in this city are seasonal in the extreme, with July and August booking out well ahead while the shoulder months are far easier and winter is quiet apart from event weekends. Worth confirming when you book are parking, whether breakfast comes with the room, the cancellation window, and how the property handles anyone for whom stairs or a steep approach would be a problem, since hillside sites here rarely sit flat.
