About Catelowna

Ellis Street runs north from the Bernard Avenue corner through the older commercial blocks of downtown Kelowna, and it has become one of the more walkable stretches in a city that otherwise asks you to drive. Catelowna sits at 1441 Ellis Street, in among the offices, galleries and small storefronts that fill the ground between the waterfront parks and the North End.

Cafes vary more than their menus suggest. Some are built for people who want to sit for two hours with a laptop and a power outlet, while others turn tables quickly and expect a queue at the counter first thing in the morning. Where the beans come from is another dividing line, since some counters pull shots from a roaster in the valley and others buy further afield, and the difference shows up in what is on offer from one week to the next. If you care about oat milk, decaf worth drinking, or a quiet corner for a meeting, those are fair things to ask before you settle in at a table.

Reaching the counter is straightforward, by phone on 236-420-2011 or through catelowna.com. Downtown Kelowna runs on a summer rhythm, with the sidewalks busy from June through September and much calmer once the festival season winds down, so a mid-morning visit in July is a different experience from the same visit in February. Parking here means a metered stall or one of the lots a block off Ellis, and both fill through the warm months, which is why most people arrive on foot from somewhere close by. Calling ahead is sensible if you are bringing a group.
