About Bluetail Sushi
Sushi in an interior valley is a logistics exercise as much as a kitchen one, since the Okanagan sits a long way over the mountains from salt water. Bluetail Sushi works out of 102-1873 Spall Road, in the Dilworth part of Kelowna, down on the flat below the hillside streets that wrap Dilworth Mountain.
For takeout, phoning 236 420 2290 ahead is the difference between waiting ten minutes and waiting forty, particularly at the dinner peak, and a look at the site first will tell you how the menu is laid out. If somebody in the party has a shellfish allergy or eats no raw fish, say so when you order rather than at the table: cooked rolls, tempura and rice bowls are standard in this kind of kitchen, but cross contact is a question that has to be asked kitchen by kitchen.
Kelowna is the service centre for the whole valley and its restaurants carry that weight, filling with visitors through the hot months and settling back to a local rhythm once the crowds thin out. A central address like this one makes a reasonable meeting point when a party is arriving from different directions, since the hillside districts, Rutland and the Mission all funnel through this part of the city. Parking on the surrounding streets is easier than downtown.
