About Grizzli Winery
Wine touring on the west side is a compact affair. The bench above the lake holds a run of tasting rooms within a few kilometres of one another, so an afternoon can take in several without anybody spending the day behind the wheel.
The visit itself raises a few practical questions. Tasting rooms follow the farm year, which means long summer days and a much quieter shoulder season, and the stretch around harvest is busy in a way that leaves little slack for a group arriving unannounced. Anyone travelling with children, a dog, or a bus load of friends will find the answer differs from one property to the next, and so will the arrangements for buying, for shipping, and for sitting down with a glass and a view.
Grizzli Winery is at 2550 Boucherie Road in Lakeview Heights, on the slope above the water where the vineyards wrap around Mount Boucherie. The number is +1 250 769 6789 and grizzliwinery.com is worth a look before setting out, particularly outside the summer months. From the bridge it is a short drive south and uphill, and the views back over the lake on the way up are a fair part of what brings people this direction in the first place.
