About Bonfire Restaurant
Gellatly Bay is where West Kelowna meets the water properly. The beaches, the boat launches and the shoreline walkway all sit along this crescent, with the vineyard slopes of Mount Boucherie rising behind, and the whole stretch fills from the first warm weekend of the year. Bonfire Restaurant keeps an address at 4205 Gellatly Rd, in among that lakeside activity.
Dining near a shoreline follows the seasons closely. Summer brings beach traffic, boaters and visitors from across the bridge, which means longer waits at the busiest hours and a real advantage to arriving early or arranging a table ahead. Autumn and winter run quieter, and operating patterns on the waterfront tend to shift with them. Anyone planning around a group, a patio table, a highchair or a dietary restriction is better off sorting it out in advance than turning up hopeful on a July evening, and the same goes for anyone whose plan depends on a particular table or a view of the water.
Parking is the practical constraint at Gellatly Bay. The lots serving the beaches and the walkway are shared with everyone else who has had the same idea, and on hot weekends they are gone by late morning, so walking in from a few streets back is often faster than circling. The shoreline path makes the wait pleasant enough, running from the bay past the ponds and the wharf, and it is a natural way to fill time before or after a meal. Out of season the same spot is a different experience entirely, with the lake grey and empty and the parking wide open.
